The Latest on the deadly ceramic frying pan explosion

NEW YORK — More than 100 people have been confirmed dead after a ceramic frying pot exploded in a Manhattan apartment building.

The explosion was reported at 7:53 a.m. at the 635 Park Avenue Building in Brooklyn.NYPD Commissioner James O’Neill says the fire has destroyed a total of 30,000 pieces of ceramic.

He says it is the worst ceramic-related fire in New York City history.NYC Ambulance says that 40 to 50 people are in serious condition, with two of them in critical condition.

NYC Police say one victim is a man who was injured in the explosion.

The NYPD says the apartment building is expected to be fully cleaned and is now closed to the public.
