Why did Bayern Munich need a ‘mosaic’ when they played Barcelona?

With the season set to come to a close, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are set to battle for the Premier League title again in 2017.

However, while the two sides are now locked in a battle for first place, the Bavarians have been working hard to keep their best players fresh, according to their head of sports, Marco van Basten.

It is a similar process to the one they had with Marco Asensio, with the Dutchman and the Brazilian left-back having been heavily linked with a return to his homeland.

However, it seems that Van Basten believes that the player’s future in Europe is now much brighter than before.

While the former Ajax and Bayern Munich player admits that he would like to play for his home club, he also thinks that the Brazilian would have made a fantastic coach.

“He is one of the best players in the world, with great qualities.

He can play in the centre of midfield, in the right-back role, he has great pace and he can do it in the back four,” the Dutch coach said.”

In the end, we must remember that we are talking about a very good player who has played at one of our biggest clubs and who has won three Champions League titles.”

It is really important for us to keep him fresh and to keep the squad strong.

“That’s what we did with Asensi, we put him in a position where he could work and help the team.”

When he returns, I think we will be in a very different situation.

“With a big summer of transfers to come, it is difficult to tell whether the two clubs will be able to find a solution to the situation, but Van Bastens optimistic assessment of Asenso’s chances of returning to his native country may be worth a few more seconds of your time.
